MCIS Family News Update
September has been a strong start at MCIS. We have enjoyed getting to know our students, building connections, and settling into the school year. Here are a few important updates for families as we prepare to turn the calendar to a new month.
Infinite Campus and School Messages
Parents and guardians can use Infinite Campus to view grades, attendance, behavior, and other student information. The Mason County Schools app provides staff messages and announcements, including teacher- and grade-specific information.
If you need help accessing either platform, please call the school.
Mason Reads
Our first Mason Reads reading log ends this month. Teachers and Mason Reads team leaders have promoted literacy and welcomed special guests to read with students, and the excitement around reading has been impressive.
Students can access books through:
The MCIS library
Our partnership with the public library
The free book library in the Commons Area
Mrs. Henderson’s “give one, take one” rack
We look forward to seeing students turn in their September reading logs next week. Students who complete the log will receive a certificate and a free DQ treat.
School Expectations
We continue to emphasize three schoolwide expectations:
Respect Yourself
Respect Others
Respect This Place
These expectations guide all of our school rules and help students grow as responsible members of our community. Families can support us by reinforcing this language at home.
Our most common behavior trends so far have involved:
Disrespectful language or tone toward adults and students
Taking small items that belong to others, such as pencils, fidgets, and notepads
Please remind students to Respect Others by using a respectful tone and leaving items that do not belong to them where they are.
Information about the student code of conduct and our Conduct Chronicles system is available in the MCIS pamphlet sent home at the beginning of the year and in your student’s take-home folder.
